"A New London Christmas Carol"

A New London Christmas Carol, based on Charles Dickens’ classic tale, 

is conceived and written by theater teacher, director and actor Chip Garrison, with music 

and lyrics by music-drama teacher, voice actor and musician Brian Conover.  Both Garrison 

and Conover are well-known educational theater professionals in southern New Jersey.  

The play sets the classic story of Scrooge in modern-day New London, Connecticut, with 

the Scrooge character replaced by female protagonist Belle Anderson, a woman who 

has experienced loss and heartbreak which all lead her to live like Dickens’ famous miser.  Surrounded by characters who will remind audiences of some of the secondary characters in A Christmas Carol, A New London Christmas Carol explores the reasons why someone could become a “Scrooge” and how, with a little forgiveness and compassion, a new day can dawn on even the hardest of hearts.
